The Year 2010 in figures

In 2010 the ANIMALS’ ANGELS Teams worked on behalf of the animals in 451 missions. For bulls, “dairy” cows and calves; pigs and piglets; horses and colts; sheep and lambs; goats and kids; donkeys and donkey foals; hares and rabbits; roosters, hens and chicks; ducks, turkeys, geese, quails, pheasants, doves as well as birds, guinea pigs, lamas, alpacas, frogs, snakes, mice, and turtles.

ANIMALS’ ANGELS Teams were there with the animals – at auctions, at border stations, at ports, in yards, at inspection points, at markets, at staging areas, in slaughterhouses and in court - everywhere where no one else wants to go.

In 2010 ANIMALS’ ANGELS Teams worked in 18 countries on 3 continents:In Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, the USA.

This year the ANIMALS’ ANGELS Teams traveled 211,424 km for the animals (not counting air travel) and carried out a total of 507 inspections.

ANIMALS’ ANGELS organized 13 police training sessions with a total of 491 participants in Germany, France and Italy, shared knowledge about animal transports and completed joint inspections with the police officers.

The ANIMALS’ ANGELS Team in Poland provided first aid to a total of 620 horses and 86 cows. A total of 546 hoof corrections were carried out and 84 cows had their claws treated. This enabled the animals to walk and stand free from pain again. The team gave 48 horses de-worming medication and 10 horses had their teeth treated so that they could properly chew and digest their food again. The Team provided wound care, treated hoof growths and malanders, bandaged legs and administered medication for an additional 58 horses. In addition, our Team did important teaching work at the local farmyards.

In 2010 the ANIMALS’ ANGELS Team in Poland renovated and modernized a total of 8 dark, dirty and stifling stables to make them more animal-friendly. As “model stables” these 8 stables now symbolize a better future for all “utility” animals in Poland. Windows were installed in the dark stables to let in light and air, and drinking systems were put up. Many of the animals who had not been used to leaving their dark, dank stables got a large fenced run where they could frolic happily for the first time. The farmers paid back a small amount each month in the form of micro-credits.
