ANIMALS' ANGELS, an internationally operating non-profit-making organisation, was founded in March 1998 by Christa and Michael Blanke. The organisation is based in Frankfurt a. Main, Germany.

ANIMALS' ANGELS is ...

• A member of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA).
• A member of the »Advisory Group on the Food Chain and Animal and Plant Health of the European Union since April 2005 and is the only independent animal welfare organization on this group.

The work of the organisation is based on the conviction:

• that the cruel treatment of animals is contradictory to the self-perception and implicit system of values of the developed nations in Europe and other parts of the world;
• that especially the long-distance transport of animals can have no moral justification;
• that advocating animal rights must be given the same priority as fighting for human rights;
• that animals must no longer be treated as "goods" but be recognised as sentient beings with their own inalienable rights.
 
The long-term aim of Animals' Angels is the abolition of long-distance transportation of farm animals.

ANIMALS' ANGELS is a non-profit making organisation. The charitable status of the organisation is regularly checked by the tax office. The focus is on making sure that the funds are used in accordance with the aims, objectives and purpose of the organisation.

ANIMALS' ANGELS finances itself exclusively through donations, membership fees, grants and legacies. Funds are only used to achieve the aims of the organisation.

Three permanent employees work in the ANIMALS' ANGELS headquarters, dealing with donors and contributing members, coordinating the teams worldwide, being a contact for the media as well as preparing and distributing information material. The teams are established on a permanent basis and are in action almost every day. The production of reports which are necessary to secure success with the courts and other authorities, are undertaken by the teams from their own offices.
